Mr Ethan Ong - 9 years old

Singapore's child drum prodigy, Ethan Ong (9), has done the nation proud by becoming one of the youngest artists to be signed on by Zildjian and Mapex; the former being the world's leading cymbal makers while the latter is an up-and-coming drum brand. Ethan is the official ambassador and guest performer at the Singapore Drum Fest 2008.

Ethan's exceptional drumming talent caught the local public and media attention when he was only 4 years old. His prolific creativity and dexterity on the drums was the subject matter of numerous documentaries, new, print and voice media. Last year, Ethan aced the inaugural Singapore Drum Fest 2007 and became the country's first junior drum champion. His championship became a platform for him to be recognised internationally when he was signed on by Zildjian and Mapex to be their endorsee.

Ethan took part in a China-wide Youth Talent Competition (organised by the local Ministry of Culture in Qingdao) in August 2008 and aced the drum section with a score of 97.4 from five judges. He also clinched the Gold Medal Award to become the Junior Drum Champion (6-12 years old).

On September 9, 2008, Ethan was also the opening Act for Steve Smith's drum show in Guangzhou. Come this October, Ethan will be performing at the Shanghai Music Show that features famed drummers such as Akira Jimbo and Marco Minnemann.
