Beats Encore (RP)
Republic Polytechnic’s Percussion Ensemble started out small in 2006, and now has a total of 30 active, young and talented percussionists who call themselves ‘Beats Encore’.
Guided by Philip Tan, a well-known percussionist in Singapore, Beats Encore has grown significantly in the past year, benefitting from his familiarity with local and international music scene, and his experience in performing as a solo pianist, percussionist, improviser and gamelan player.
Beats Encore has performed in several large-scale events in 2007: People's Association Youth Movement’s (PAYM) Anniversary, Republic Polytechnic Official Opening (welcome party for PM Lee Hsien Loong), Sentosa – Songs of the Sea, Tapestry, and the launch of Bossaball in Asia. The group also staged their first annual concert in December 2007.
Passionate about what they do, the members of Beats Encore hope to infect everyone with their brand of fusion composition. Beats Encore promise that what the group gives is nothing but the extraordinary, and their great beats will blow you out of your mind!
