Tenko - Japanese Taiko Group

TENKO is a Japanese Taiko Drum group in Singapore, which started as a family Taiko group. Now the group is a lot bigger with members from different nationality and races, but all with the passion for Taiko.

We have been introducing different styles; from pieces only with Taiko to a fun piece with many types of instruments such as small drums, metal instrument or a bamboo flute. We also showcase SATOKAGURA or OHAYASHI with traditional dances with different masks, such as SHISHIMAI, Japanese Lion dance and Daikokusama(the Fortune God). Each piece is unique by its own rhythm, tempo, style and mobility. We would like our audience to discover that Japanese Taiko is not just static or powerful; there are different sides of it for different occasions, mood or celebrations.

TENKO is honored to have been invited by various institutions, organizations and companies to perform for their special events.　We have performed at events such as the NATAS Travel Fair, the IT show and the Asian Children Festival. The audiences were always thrilled with the performances and some of them even came on stage to interact with the TENKO drummers! We believe that you can enjoy Taiko not only with your ears but also with your whole body. And we have been conducting workshops to introduce the fun of Taiko, too.
