Upbeats Percussion
Formed in early 2008, Upbeats Percussion was the brainchild of its 5 founding members. They envisioned a percussion group like no other; one that would blow away the nation of Singapore with its funky rhythms and thumping beats. Passion is the primary driving force behind the Upbeats, for they believe it is passion for the music that drives any band, be it percussion or otherwise, to success. With its members numbering up to 12, and all with backgrounds as colourful as their musical genre of choice, the distance between Upbeats Percussion and success don’t seem to be too far apart.
Upbeats create rhythms from their young creative minds and putting it into grooving beats. They’re a light-hearted bunch, and so is their music. Keeping samba rhythms is the basis of their compositions, and they take cues from different types of Brazilian percussion - Samba, Samba-Reggae or Maracatu – mashing them up to create a totally unique sound that they are known for.
