SINGAPORE BAND CHALLENGE 2008

[17 & Under Finalists] [18 & Above Finalists] [Judges]

17 & Below Finalists

Polarix
Polarix was formed in April, 2007 and the band had chosen the name because “it looks cool” and the letter “x” at the end makes the name “a little more evil.” Polarix loves heavy metal and performed Metallica’s “Seek & Destroy” at the semi-finals, thus impressing the judges with their stage presence and balanced overall sound.

Della Madre
Della Madre essentially means “music of our mother” in Italian. Young as the band members are, they are all influenced by classic rock, progressive metal, funk and fusion. For the semi-finals, the band did a medley of "Burn/Highway Star/Baba O 'Reily." The judges were impressed with their fond homeage to classic rock and commented that Nick, the guitarist, has a "glamorous presence" in the band.

Perpetual Flame
“Classic rock just has a little bit more feel to it,” says the band. Inspired by acts such as Bon Jovi, 30 Seconds To Mars, Children of Bodum and Joe Satriani, Perpetual Flame did a rocking cover of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" that segued into Rihanna's "Umbrella." Although the weird song choice did throw the judges off a little, the band managed to charm with their fun approach to their music.

Perpetual Flame is also the winner of Crowd Favourite Band at the semi-finals.
